5 Charities to Give to Now Thu, Dec 01, 22 It’s officially the season of giving! Whether you’re making financial contributions, donating time or simply spreading awareness, there’s something special about giving back. In the spirit of giving, we’ve compiled a list of a few of our favorite charities that are hard at work making a difference in our community. Each organization has a unique mission that we are excited to share with you. While this year has been tough on everyone, we hope you find some inspiration from these causes and join us in contributing what you are able to the organizations that warm your heart. Family Tree Right down the street from our Lakeside location sits this admirable non-profit! The Family Tree is a human services agency that works to provide innovative, life-changing services to end child abuse, domestic violence and homelessness. They have been rooted in the metro Denver community since 1976 and recognize the intersection among child abuse, domestic violence, and homelessness. We’re proud to have partnered with The Family Tree over the years since Molly’s joined the Lakeside community. Check out their website here to learn how to donate or volunteer. Dumb Friends League Love animals? So do we! Dumb Friends League is a local non-profit that aspires to end pet homelessness and animal suffering through their charitable efforts. They work with the community to put on a number of fundraisers, events, and volunteer opportunities to help them achieve their mission. There are so many different ways to contribute to this cause, which you can check out on their website here. Aclu Colorado The ACLU of Colorado is the state’s oldest and largest civil rights organization. Their mission? To protect, defend and extend the civil rights and civil liberties of all people in Colorado through litigation, education and advocacy. In the year of 2020, the ACLU has been working tirelessly to achieve these goals. Now more than ever, we believe that contributing to their efforts holds enormous value for our community. To get involved or donate, visit their website here. Colorado Professional Fire Fighters Foundation This year, we have faced an unprecedented number of wildfires in the state of Colorado. We believe it is important to acknowledge and give back to those on the front lines. The mission of the CPFFF is to provide aid and support to Colorado fire fighters, their families, and dependents who are victims of tragedy. Oftentimes, the needs of the widow(ers) and orphans of fallen firefighters are overlooked after a tragedy. It was from this financial void that the purpose of the Colorado Professional Fire Fighters Foundations was forged. Donations to the Foundation go directly to families of firefighters who have fallen or directly to firefighters who were injured or have suffered. You can learn more and donate to this cause on their website here. Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC) is the state’s oldest outdoor stewardship non-profit organization. Since 1984, they have been motivating and enabling people to become active stewards of Colorado’s natural resources. Each year, they engage thousands of people to provide a volunteer workforce for recreation and habitat improvement projects in partnership with land agencies, non-profits, and community groups. We love how they inspire all of us to find our place in caring for the outdoors! You can find out how to get involved and contribute here. These featured charities are just a few of the many working hard to benefit our community. Let us know if you have any other organizations that are near and dear to your heart. Cheers to making a difference!
