August Cocktail of the Month - Hendricks Gimlet

Wed, Aug 07, 24

Hello, August! Our Cocktail of the Month-Hendricks Gimlet is here! This is brought to everyone by our Spirits Department Manager at our Greenwood Village location, Chris. August is known for increasing temperatures and the desire to get outside, he wanted to create something simple and revitalizing.

The Gin Gimlet is meant to be extremely simple, solely based around three ingredients: gin, fresh squeezed lime juice, and simple syrup.  The word "gimlet" used in this sense was first attested in 1928. The most obvious origin is from the tool for drilling small holes, a word also used figuratively to describe something as sharp or piercing. Therefore, the cocktail may have been named for its "penetrating" effects on the drinker.  For this cocktail, we love Hendricks as it delivers beautiful notes of soaked rose petal, pear essence, and delicate persian cucumber to help contribute to the balance of sweetness and tartness from the syrup and lime juice.

All ingredients are available at both locations.  If you happen to have made this cocktail and make a stop at our Greenwood Village location, let Chris know your thoughts on it!

Cheers!

Ingredients:

2 oz Hendricks Gin

.5 oz Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice,

.5 oz Simple Syrup

Lime wheel or wedge to garnish

Directions:

  1. Add ice to a shaker

  2. Pour over ingredients into shaker

  3. Shake and strain into a chilled coup or cocktail glass

  4.  Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge

From Chris: “This is one of my favorite summer cocktails.  Hendricks in particular with its cucumber and citrus taste profile was the perfect gin for this refreshing summer time cocktail.” When completed, the Hendricks Gimlet should have a soft green hue from the combination of gin and lime juice.

The lingering finishing on your palette should relay tangy and sweet, with an aroma of gin but balanced on the back end; sharp citrus with a touch of sweet light cucumber, juniper and elderflower.  Tell us your thoughts about it next time you’re in the store!

Cheers to the warmer weather!
