Staff Picks: Holiday Beers

Tue, Dec 12, 23

The winter season and holidays are here in full swing. With so many options for beer available this time of year, our Beer specialists have put together a list of options to highlight. Some of the options include local breweries, while others are personal favorites- this list is perfect for choosing the best seasonal gift options for the beer lover in your life.  Fortunately, all options in this list are also available at both of our Molly’s Spirits locations, too.  Happy Holidays from all of us to all of you!

Sierra Nevada Celebration

Freshly picked hops, rushed from farm to brewery, fill Celebration IPA with powerful citrus and pine flavors. When you’re on the slopes with friends or building a backyard campfire for the fam, you need a beer as fresh as fallen snow. Pure hops, balanced with rich caramel malt, make this a celebration in every sip.

Fremont Dark Star

Dark Star is inspired by the wandering tribes scattered through the terrible journey of time and space and adrift in the dark matter between the spaces of then and now- it is a dark, mysterious, yet silky oatmeal stout of grand proportions balanced by a firm hop handshake. We suggest pairing with cheesecake, pumpkin pie, apple pie, and other similar desserts.

Boulevard Sixth Glass

The Sixth Glass, Boulevard’s Belgian-style quadrupel ale, is a deep and mysterious libation- dark auburn and full-bodied, its sweetness is deceptive. Pours a dark copper/amber color. Rich aromas of sweet caramel, bready malts, dark fruit, brown sugar & alcohol; a sweet, fruity taste of caramel malts, dark fruit, alcohol, candied sugar, spicy yeast & banana.

Einstok White Ale

Using the highest quality ingredients - pure Icelandic water, a touch of oats, hints of orange and coriander  and a centuries-old brewing method, Einstok has created a fantastic white ale craft beer. Their Icelandic White Ale features the complex flavors of the classic Belgian Witbier, spiced with traditional orange peel and coriander, all brewed with pure Icelandic water to produce a brew that is flavorful and refreshingly drinkable. Consider this as an ideal option for holiday crushers and family gatherings.

Leffe Blonde

Leffe Blonde is an authentic blond abbey beer with a slight hint of bitterness to it. It is delicate but characteristic. Leffe Blonde is the quintessential drinking beer- it gives an extra touch of flavor to simple dishes and lightly accompanies your fried foods.

Narragansett Lager

Made in honor for five generations, The Famous Narragansett Lager has been arguably one of the greats since 1890. Today, the highest rated, heritage American lager (according to Beer Advocate) is brewed to be clean, crisp, refreshing, and perfectly balanced.  We suggest this refreshing brew for either before, during, or after the main event-it is the perfect pairing for fired goods, sweet cakes, and savory dishes alike.

Brewdog - It's a Beaut
Brewdog produced a collaboration with National Lampoon‘s Christmas Vacation to bring: It’s a Beaut Pecan & Toffee Stout. At 7.5%, this rich and decadent stout combines sweet toffee flavors, roasted cacao, and hints of vanilla.  Whether you're a fan of the movie or delectable holiday stouts, we can’t recommend this one enough!

N'Ice Chouffe

N'Ice Chouffe is the winter beer from the Chouffe Brewery. They recommend that you enjoy it from early fall to late winter, preferably by the fireplace. It is a dark beer, slightly hoppy, spiced with thyme and curaçao, and made using orange peel. It has an alcohol content of 10%, goes well with any winter dishes, or pesky relatives.

St Bernardus - Christmas (4/12c)

St.Bernardus Christmas Ale is a dark, seasonal beer-full of wintery character and flavors that they brew every year, ready for the festive season. This beer takes on a splendid dark-brown color that is topped off with a cream-coloured layer of froth- welcoming and warm.

Colorado Cider Company - Cherry Glider

Colorado Cider Company produces a delectable Cherry Glider.  This batch produces a rosé color and a distinctive cherry pucker taste-tart finish but extremely inviting. This Glider boasts a unique & dry apple sharpness enhanced with cherries, but not overpowered by them.
