January Brewery of the Month - Pikes Peak Brewing Co. Mon, Jan 08, 24 Pikes Peak Brewing Co. was established in Monument, Colorado, in 2011 as a place for the community to connect and come together. They believe the best beers are ones shared with friends and hope that wherever you find a Pikes Peak Beer, it finds you in good company. They would rather brew for their neighbors than notoriety, so their beers are personal expressions that stay faithful to classic styles. Pikes Peak Brewing Co. is lucky to be at the source of some of the country’s finest ingredients- from their abundant grains and fresh hops to pristine water. Inspiration comes from the surrounding landscape to make beer as solid and iconic as their namesake mountain. In tribute to Colorado's high-altitude adventures, Pikes Peak Thin Air Beer stands tall as a low-calorie, low-carb session IPA that doesn't compromise on flavor. Bursting with the vibrant essence of Citra, Mosaic, and Cascade hops, this brew boasts a full-flavored profile despite its modest 4.0% ABV- a refreshing departure from higher-alcohol options. Its Colorado spirit shines through its lightness, offering the perfect companion for mountain exploration with less than 2 grams of carbs and under 100 calories. Pouring a pale yellow reminiscent of lemonade, its effervescence and thin head give way to an enticing aroma of lemon bread and a subtle hint of citrus. The taste evokes notes of bread crust intertwined with diluted lemon, although the hop bitterness fades quickly. The beer's light body and mild bite culminate in a crisp, semi-dry finish, encapsulating the refreshing essence of the high-altitude experience. An homage to the 1859 Pikes Peak Gold Rush, the Pikes Peak Gold Rush Beer is a tribute to the adventurous spirit of those who sought their fortunes in the Rockies. This Belgian Strong Golden Ale mirrors the richness of that historic era with its honeyed, clove-infused palate, crafted from candedi sugar and traditional yeast. Opening with a yeasty aroma that mellows upon tasting, this ale boasts a golden hue crowned by a delicate off-white foam. Notes of bubblegum, caramel, and toffee tantalize the senses, balanced by fruity tones and a subtle spiciness. Despite its smooth drinkability, caution is warranted due to its potent 8.7% ABV—savor it slowly and relish hitting the 'mother lode' with each sip. Pikes Peak Brewing Co. creates what it calls “full-flavored renditions of classic styles,” which is an accurate description of the Devil’s Head Red Ale. Sometimes red ales can be a bit generic- fortunately that’s not the case here. The beer is enjoyably complex without being overpowering. Devil’s Head pours a deep amber color, smelling hoppier than it tastes; the flavor is more malt-forward, like a caramel candy dipped in chocolate. Stil, the beer remains crisp and balanced, even with a higher ABV (7.3%). By Marketing
