January Cocktail of the Month - Molly's Cranberry Bourbon Fizz

We’re back, in 2025, with a delicate introduction to the new year.  Let us welcome January with Molly’s Cranberry Bourbon Fizz.   January is known for taking a step back from the drinking world, but this cocktail is a great exception.  Based on a classic Fizz cocktail, January’s cocktail is simple and easy to make at home, with items being available at both Molly’s locations. When we think of January colors, we think gold and red; gold as the new year is shiny and welcome just as red is warm and inviting.  The colors of the cocktail reflect a combination of the two!

Molly’s Cranberry Bourbon Fizz is meant to rely on what you have left over from the holidays- cranberry sauce tends to be the most widespread option but anything sweet and tart will do the trick.  The cocktail also includes the classic ingredients of a Fizz: lemon juice, carbonated soda of some kind, and a heavy spirit option.  By adding the cranberry sauce, we feel this elevates the cocktail to a sweet yet tart finish. Directions:

2 Tbsp of Cranberry sauce (homemade or store bought) 

2 oz Green River Bourbon 

1/2 oz Lemon Juice

1 6-12oz can/bottle of Ginger Beer or Club Soda

Lemon Peel Twist for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Add cranberry sauce to a rocks glass 

  2. Add the Green River Bourbon and lemon juice to the glass 

  3. Stir to combine 

  4. Add ice 

  5. Top with ginger beer or club soda, stir to taste 

  6. Garnish with a lemon twist
  7. Enjoy!

When finished, your Molly’s Cranberry Bourbon Fizz should resemble a light, watermelon color with plenty of bubbles.  If available, we suggest adding a sprig of rosemary or a lemon wheel as a garnish, or even a rim of cranberry sauce to really drive home the tart flavors.
