July Cocktail of the Month - Hoppy Highball

Welcome to July! Our Cocktail of the Month-Hoppy Highball is here! This is brought to everyone by our Store Associate at our Lakeside location, Josh. With the hot weather here, he wanted to create something easy and refreshing; keeping to the “KIS” method (Keep It Simple).  For those who love the hop flavors in your beer, this cocktail is for you!  Our goal was to create a cocktail that’s hoppy and bright, easily combines with bourbon to bring notes of soft oak in the background.  We feel this cocktail achieves that goal! This cocktail can be sipped or chugged…but we’re not here to tell you how to drink it but definitely insisting you try it out!

All ingredients are available at both locations (except mint).  If you happen to have made this cocktail and make a stop at our Lakeside location, let Josh know your thoughts on it!

Directions:

  1. Chill the Hop water
  2. Fill your highball glass with ice
  3. Pour whiskey over ice
  4. Top with Lagunitas Hop Water
  5. Add a twist of lemon (or a sprig of mint)
  6. Gently stir
  7. Enjoy!

When finished, the Hoppy Highball should have a soft golden hue from the combination of hop water and bourbon.  When considering an idea for this month’s cocktail, we were searching for a great refreshing summer drink that combines the tingling hint of hops as well as the rich, sweet, and oaky combo of bourbon...a crispy, clean cocktail with just enough depth of flavor and brightness.  Tell us your thoughts about it next time you’re in the store!  Cheers to the warmer weather!
