March Brewery of the Month - Grand Teton Brewing

Wed, Mar 06, 24

In a quest for full-flavored, freshly-brewed, locally-produced beers, Charlie and Ernie, brothers of German-Austrian descent, built a small brewhouse in Wilson, Wyoming and secured the first malt beverage manufacturers’ permit issued in Wyoming in 35 years. Believing that great tasting, preservative-free, authentic hand-crafted beer could find a niche in the modern marketplace, the Otto brothers presented their flagship amber “Teton Ale” to local draught establishments in 1989. “Old Faithful Ale” and “Moose Juice Stout” brews soon followed.

In 1992, Otto Brothers’ Brewing Company opened Wyoming’s first brewpub in Wilson.

The name change from Otto Brothers’ Brewing Company to Grand Teton Brewing occurred in the Fall of 2000.

In April of 2009 Charlie sold the brewery to Steve and Ellen Furbacher. Since then, the Furbachers have made significant changes to the brewery-  adding much needed brewing equipment, fixing the bottling line, and growing local events. Their efforts have not gone unnoticed; production has grown from 4,900 barrels to 10,000 barrels within the timespan of their ownership.

Grand Teton Amber Ale

Originally brewed in 1988 this is their longest standing beer. A classic American style Amber with a rich copper color and smooth finish. After all these years, Teton Amber is still a brewery favorite.

Grand Teton Bluebird Pilsner

Bluebird Pilsner is brewed with the spirit of Teton Valley in mind. This thirst-quenching Pilsner is full-bodied and is as bright as the morning sunshine beaming through the blinds. Its delicate balance of hops lends itself to a snappy finish. Make sure to pair this beer with backpacking trips, long n’ lazy river floats, and everything in between.

Grand Teton Parks IPA

Named for the National Parks that hold such a special place in all hearts, Grand Teton Brewing is proud to present their Parks IPA. This golden colored frothy delight will give visions of long-exposed rocks and cliffs found in central and western Colorado. The balanced blend of woody, herbal, and floral hops will blissfully send you to a large sequoia grove in Yosemite. They proudly brew Parks IPA with the same crisp and refreshing granite-filtered water that fills the ethereal lakes at the base of the Tetons. Inspired by a love of all national parks, this beer is a must have brew in any adventurer’s quiver!
