Tobacco Road

Mezcal is the smoky cousin of tequila and whether it is the main ingredient or complimentary it is a really fun spirit to use in a cocktail. Molly’s Tobacco Road cocktail recipe combines spirits and liqueurs to create a zesty, smoky, sweet and sour libation that is as fun to make as it is to drink. And bonus, each of these spirits are equally delicious on their own, depending on your taste. This mezcal cocktail recipe serves one.

Bar supplies

  • Shaker
  • Cocktail glass
  • Cocktail Spoon (optional)
  • Ice
Ingredient Amount
Don Amado Reposado Mezcal 1.5 ounces
Cynar Amaro 1.25 ounces
Fino Sherry 0.5 ounces
Peychaud’s Bitters 2 to 4 dashes
Grapefruit 0.25 teaspoon of zest (or to taste) & Wedges, quartered for garnish
Salt Just a pinch will do

Preparation:

Fill your cocktail glass with ice and all the ingredients then pour into a shaker, shake a few shakes of the shaker then pour ingredients back into the glass. You can pour the shaken ice in with the ingredients or strain the ingredients onto new ice in the glass. That’s a personal preference we leave to you. Also, if you’re not a shaker or you’re tired of shaking, stir the ingredients in the glass with the cocktail spoon. Of course you can find all the ingredients (except the fruit) and bar supplies at Molly’s Spirits. We’re conveniently located and it’s one stop shopping, so it’s faster to get to your cocktails.

A Twist:

There isn’t much to twist for Tobacco Road cocktail, though Mezcal and Cynar pair well together and you can use these two spirits as a base to get creative and have some fun.
