Established in 1920 by Cavalier Lorenzo Scavino, the small farm began to produce everything the family needed. In 1967 Alfonso Scavino, son of Lorenzo, began making wine from the estate vineyards and bottled the first wines of the estate. Luigi Scavino is the 3rd generation winemaker and is supported by his wife Lorella and his son Lorenzo. Luigi continues to apply what he learned from his father, together with suitable new ideas and respect for tradition. Wines are made from 100% estate grown fruit. Vineyard management is rigorous due to the belief that the wine is made in the vineyard, not the cellar. The Bricco dell’Oriolo vineyard faces south at 600 meters above sea level, it was the kind of land generally reserved for Nebbiolo. Vines are over 60 years old. The wine is macerated for 7 days in rotary fermenters before being aged in stainless steel to retain freshness in the wine.
