7 Drink Pairings Based on Your Favorite CO Summer Outdoor Activity

Thu, Dec 01, 22

Summertime in Colorado means it’s time to get outside and explore! The mountains are calling and we’re ready to answer. As Colorado natives, transplants and visitors alike flock to the mountains and I-70 traffic picks up, it’s imperative that your cooler stays packed full of refreshing favorites. Let’s discuss what you should be sipping on this summer as you adventure through Colorful Colorado.

Hiking

For avid hikers, nothing says summer like a tasty brew and a scenic mountain view. This saison pairs nicely with summiting your favorite 14er. It’s a 2016 GABF Gold Medal winner, so clearly the critics agree!

Mountain Biking

You probably saw this pair coming. Fat Tire is practically the poster child of New Belgium, and for good reason. The amber ale has stood the test of time and is famously loved by the Colorado biking community. It’s not a hot take, but nothing hits the spot more than an ice-cold Fat Tire after a long bike ride.

Climbing

A gin with the word “rock” in its name? Climbers must be stoked! Not only is Colorado known for having some of the best rock climbing terrain in the US, it is also famous for having some of the best distilleries. Cap Rock gin is distilled locally using carefully-picked botanicals. It is a necessary addition to your next post-climb G&T!

Camping

Picture this: a sky full of stars, a warm bonfire, the smell of roasted marshmallows, the sound of friends laughing and an ice cold beer. Sound ideal? We think so.

Summer marks the start of camping season in CO, and Bonfire Brewing’s Firestarter IPA is the perfect drink to fuel your weekend backpacking trips. This Flagship IPA is dry hopped with Amarillo, Centennial and Loral, which make for an amazing aroma and flavor palate. Plus, the name is all-too-fitting for saying cheers!

Fishing

Nothing says Saturday like casting a line and cracking open a cold one. Bell’s Two Hearted Ale is the perfect brew to pack in your summer cooler. The American IPA delivers heavy hops with a balanced body and malty backbone. It’s name and design were inspired by the Two Hearted River, which is famous for being an exceptional fishing destination. We definitely recommend breaking out a bottle next time you’re gearing up to get on the water!

Horseback Riding

Getting in the saddle is one of the best ways to enjoy Colorado’s scenic prairie and mountain settings. If you’re in search of the perfect wine to indulge in after a long ride, look no further.

14 Hands is a brand inspired by the wild horses that once roamed the Columbia River Valley region. The grapes come from the Horse Heaven Hills AVA, which not only has a fitting name but also produces delicious, robust wines. The Stampede Red Blend features aromas of spice and cedar that are complemented by notes of cherry and cola.

Golfing

Colorado-based Lifted Libations really outdid themself with this one. Tee Time is a boozy version of the classic gold drink, an Arnold Palmer. The canned cocktail comes course-ready so you can get to drinking without the mixing or mess. It’s the perfect beverage to turn your round around with a little extra liquid courage on the course. It’s also made with organic, natural ingredients that are sure to leave any golf lover satisfied. Give this one a try the next time you tee it up!

There’s no telling where your next adventure will take you, but at least now you know what to sip on while you explore. Cheers to summertime in Colorful Colorado!
