Rosé is the perfect wine for all occasions. And let’s get this out of the way now, no, it is not just white and red wine blended together. Technically, it is a red wine. The grapes used for the bottle are lightly crushed and then fermented. The longer they are in contact with their skin, the redder they become, which is why you see so many different colored Rosés on the shelves. Sparkling wine usually comes from white and Rosé wines, and Champagne only covers those sparkling wines created in the French region. There are other names as well in the same category, such as prosecco and Lambrusco. This type of wine has had a distilled spirit added to it, such as brandy or cognac. Typically served as a dessert, fortified wine carries sweet notes brought out from the higher alcohol in the added spirits.
